"The two of us wrote Anti-Oedipus together. Since each of us was several, there was already quite a crowd." ("Introduction: Rhizome")
(1925-1995) (1930-1992)
(Off-and-on collaboration roughly between 1972 and 1991)
D & G collaborations, according (mostly) to Brian Massumi's compiled bibliography appended to his translation of Mille Plateaux (pp. 579-585):
- Anti-Oedipus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia, Vol. 1. First published in 1972, appearing in English translation in 1977.
- Kafka: Towards a Minor Literature. First published in 1975, appearing in English translation in 1986.
- Nomadology: The War Machine. Released by Semiotext(e) in 1986, as a translation of Chapter 12 of A Thousand Plateaus.
- On the Line. Released by Semiotext(e) in 1983, as a translation of "Rhizome" and "Politics" (respectively, Chapter 1 of A Thousand Plateaus and Chapter 9 of Dialogues).
- A Thousand Plateaus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia, Vol. 2. First published in 1980, appearing in English translation in 1987.
- What is Philosophy? First published in 1991, appearing in English translation in 1996.
Additionally, there are a number of essays and journal articles, most of which are translations or abridgements of various chapters of these books.
A friend has given me this advice: "To get a grip on the metaphysics of schizoanalysis, you need to understand the following concepts from Anti-Oedipus:
- Desiring-production
- The 'World-Egg' (Monde-Oeuf)
- BwO (Body without Organs)
- Machines (Producing Machines, Desiring Machines, etc etc)
- Territorialization/Deterritorialization
- The metaphysical critique of Freud implied by Schizoanalysis
This means: read Foucault's Introduction and all of Chapter One of A-O, along with Chapter 2 Sections 4&6, as much or as little of Chapter 3 as you like to read psychoanalytic theory getting pasted, and all of chapter 4. Seriously then consider attacking Mille Plateaux as you will otherwise have to re-read A-O when you do get around to it."
Also of interest, there are Michael Hardt's Capitalism & Schizophrenia reading notes.
